There are some
ways you can keep your car in top condition for the coming winter. Apply an aluminum wheel cleaner to clean car wheel for high
operation and longer car life. But that isn't enough in car care and you have
to spend efforts and more energy in winter car maintaining.
There are some
ways you can save money and protect your car well in cold weather. First, when
it gets colder, you can have a try putting a sock on your car's windshield
wiper. That will prevent the ice and snow from sticking to it. You can also try
putting a freezer-sized bag over your side mirrors and it will prevent ice from
forming on them, and you won't have to clean them. In this way, you can save
much energy and don’t need to spend money for a professional.
Second, you should
have your engine serviced in cold winter. Give your car all necessary
maintenance including an oil change, and inspect everything under the hood to
make sure it’s good to go. And then check your tires and replace them if
necessary. Tire replacement is absolutely critical, especially if your tires
are looking old and worn. Do a quick visual inspection to check for dry rot, as
old tires become brittle and lose elasticity.
Third, you can throw
an emergency kit into the backseat. The key here is not to use it over the
course of the entire winter. But at least if you have it in your car, you know
you’ll be well equipped if something does go wrong on the road and you find
yourself stuck in a snow bank. Check your fluids to ensure you've got an
optimal view of the road. Top it off and put an extra jug in your trunk. This
could be extremely important before you drive your car for a long distance.
Cold weather and
blizzards are brutal on batteries. Car-battery capacity is reduced as
temperatures plummet, so remember to check your battery. The mechanic should be
on the lookout for cracks, holes or corrosion around the positive and negative
terminals, and make sure your cables are well connected. If your battery isn't
sealed and your fluid is low, pour in some distilled water.
Clean your aluminum wheel regularly. Start by filling a bucket with warm water and add soap and
agitate to mix. Remove any dirt and grime from the rims with a rag and the
soapy water. Go through several sheets of sandpaper for all but the mildest
cases of pitting. Once the pitting is removed and the surface is smooth, use a
fine grit paper of your choice to smooth out the surface and get rid of any
grooves you may have left behind. Add a protective clear coat, following all
label precautions and directions for the product of your choice.
Apply a natural air freshener in a garage as it may lock for a
long time in winter. You can also give a regular check even though you are not driving
your car. More importantly, you couldn't be too careful when driving your car
in winter. For your safety and protect your car as well.
